The Prayers of Jesus – Week 1

Luke 15:1–5 (NLT) — 1 Tax collectors and other notorious sinners often came to listen to Jesus teach. 2 This made the Pharisees and teachers of religious law complain that he was associating with such sinful people—even eating with them! 3 So Jesus told them this story: 4 “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? 5 And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders.

Hebrews 4:16 (NLT) — 16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

1. Prayer is to be a ___________  __________ of our lives.

Colossians 4:2 (NLT) — 2 Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.

Philippians 4:6–7 (NLT) — 6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

2. Jesus __________  __________ whom we are dialoguing with.

Matthew 6:9 (NLT) — 9 Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.

3.  We should always pray that God would be ___________ through our lives.

1 Corinthians 10:31 (NLT) — 31 So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

4.  We, like Jesus should pray also for the _________  ___  __________

Philippians 2:4–7 (NLT) — 4 Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. 5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. 6 Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. 7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form,

John 13:13–16 (NLT) — 13 You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and you are right, because that’s what I am. 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. 15 I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you. 16 I tell you the truth, slaves are not greater than their master. Nor is the messenger more important than the one who sends the message.

5. Ephesians 2:10. We are to pray that we would ______________  ______________ the work that God entrusts to us to perform on the earth.

Ephesians 2:10 (NLT) — 10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Colossians 3:17 (NLT) — 17 And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.
