The Essential Quality of Self-Discipline

“All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize.”  – 1 Corinthians 9:25

Self-Discipline:  the ability to exercise control over one’s actions, thoughts, inner desires and words.  (From the Greek enkrateia – meaning lordship or power over.)

“He must live a devout and disciplined life.”  – Titus 1:8

I declare today that I have been faithful. If anyone suffers eternal death, it’s not my fault, for I didn’t shrink from declaring all that God wants you to know.”  – Acts 20:22-27
