2 Timothy 2:15 (NLT) — 15 Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.

Acts 16:1–3 (NLT) — 1 Paul went first to Derbe and then to Lystra, where there was a young disciple named Timothy. In deference to the Jews of the area, he arranged for Timothy to be circumcised before they left, for everyone knew that his father was a Greek.
