Stronger Faith – A Faith That Overcomes

Stronger Faith – Stories Of Faith From Genesis

A Faith That Overcomes

September 26, 2021

Genesis 39:21 (NLT) — 21
But the Lord was with Joseph in the prison and showed him his faithful love. And the Lord made Joseph a favorite with the prison warden.

1.  Turn to God during my challenges.

Genesis 39:20 (NLT) — 20 So he took Joseph and threw him into the prison where the king’s prisoners were held, and there he remained.

My faith grows stronger when I turn to God during my problems.

2.  I serve others when I feel stuck.

Genesis 40:6–8 (NLT) — 6 When Joseph saw them the next morning, he noticed that they both looked upset. 7 “Why do you look so worried today?” he asked them. 8 And they replied, “We both had dreams last night, but no one can tell us what they mean.” “Interpreting dreams is God’s business,” Joseph replied. “Go ahead and tell me your dreams.”

Proverbs 11:25 (NLT) — 25 The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.

3. Don’t become bitter when people disappoint me.

Genesis 40:14–15 (NLT) — 14 And please remember me and do me a favor when things go well for you. Mention me to Pharaoh, so he might let me out of this place. 15 For I was kidnapped from my homeland, the land of the Hebrews, and now I’m here in prison, but I did nothing to deserve it.”

Genesis 40:23 (NLT) — 23 Pharaoh’s chief cup-bearer, however, forgot all about Joseph, never giving him another thought.

4.  Trust God is with me when I feel forgotten.

Genesis 39:21 (NLT) — 21 But the Lord was with Joseph in the prison and showed him his faithful love. And the Lord made Joseph a favorite with the prison warden.

Hebrews 11:1 (NLT) — 1 Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.

5.  Keep an eternal perspective when I feel like giving up.

Genesis 41:41 (NLT) — 41 Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I hereby put you in charge of the entire land of Egypt.”

2 Corinthians 4:12 (NLT) — 12 So we live in the face of death, but this has resulted in eternal life for you.
