Wiser—Wiser With My Family

Proverbs 24:3 (NLT) — 3 A house is built by wisdom and becomes strong through good sense.

Proverbs shows us that there are four actions to doing this, to building a wiser family.

1. ________ my parents ___________.

Exodus 20:12 (NLT) — 12 “Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

Proverbs 20:20 (NLT) — 20 If you insult your father or mother, your light will be snuffed out in total darkness.

2.  __________ my spouse ____________.

Proverbs 31:10 (NLT)10 Who can find a virtuous and capable wife? She is more precious than rubies.

Proverbs 18:22 (NLT) — 22 The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the Lord.

Proverbs 5:15–18 (NLT) — 15 Drink water from your own well— share your love only with your wife. 16 Why spill the water of your springs in the streets, having sex with just anyone? 17 You should reserve it for yourselves. Never share it with strangers. 18 Let your wife be a fountain of blessing for you. Rejoice in the wife of your youth.

Ephesians 5:33 (NLT) — 33 So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

3.  __________ my children _____________

Proverbs 22:6 (NLT) — 6 Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.

Proverbs 1:8 (NLT) — 8 My child, listen when your father corrects you. Don’t neglect your mother’s instruction.

Proverbs 20:7 (NLT) — 7 The godly walk with integrity; blessed are their children who follow them.

4.  __________   my family ___________.

Proverbs 23:24 (NLT) — 24 The father of godly children has cause for joy. What a pleasure to have children who are wise.

Proverbs 3:4–6 (NLT) — 4 Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation. 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

Joshua 24:15 (NLT) — 15 But if you refuse to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.”
