Assessment: I cannot respond like I once did. Whenever I am mistreated, do I respond with gentleness, self-control, and humility? Do I seek to be meek?

Assessment: Do I have a strong desire for the things of God and do I long to grow in intimacy and relationship with him?

Verse 5:7 Paraphrased: Blessed are those who show mercy through forgiveness, kindness, and compassion. They will receive mercy.

Assessment: Am I aware of my own need for mercy and do I extend mercy to others?

Verse 5:8 Paraphrased: Blessed are those who have been purified from the inside out, they will see God.

Assessment: Am I cleansed of my sin and do I make wise decisions to keep my heart pure?

Verse 5:9 Paraphrased: Blessed are those who have been reconciled to God and bring this same message of reconciliation to others, they will see God.

Assessment: Am I at peace with God (Through Jesus Christ) and am I at Peace with others?

Verse 5:10 Paraphrased: Blessed are those who are daring enough to openly live for Christ. They will receive the kingdom of Heaven.
